On Demand Webinar: Concurrent Engineering - Challenges of Brownfield Projects
Engineering projects come in all shapes and sizes but the one thing they all have in common is that managing engineering data during brownfield projects brings challenges that are not a feature of greenfield projects. Brownfield projects can occur in parallel with other projects concerning the same plant, item or process. Therefore, more than one digital version of the same plant design needs to be managed at the same time, hence the term concurrent engineering. In a brownfield world “as operated”, (or “as built”) data must remain undisturbed for normal users while data is worked on in separate projects within the system by project. Not only must “to be” design data be kept quarantined from “as built” design data, there is a possibility that multiple projects may occur at the same time. Once a project is complete, data and documents need to be merged back into the “as operated” area and made available to all users. This is a highly complex process as items can be impacted by several changes in parallel and the data in the “as operated” area can change during the many months a project can take to finish. In this short webinar we will take a closer look at brownfield concurrent engineering and look at Hexagon’s approach to overcoming the challenges. In this webinar you will learn:-
Why managing brownfield projects can be more challenging than greenfield
-
How “concurrent engineering” is key to managing brownfield projects
